Welcome to the online learning group of the class ‘Mass Communication and Mass Media Policy in Europe’ designed for MA SES students and international students and taught in English. The class seeks to reveal the logic of how contemporary media discourses are shaped, revised and transformed; examines the capacity of media outlets to set public agenda, frame issues of public concern and influence the realm of politics and policymaking; and analyzes the instruments used by politicians to monitor and control the performance of media. It especially focuses on media markets in contemporary Europe and questions the possibility of media Europeanization and of the development of coherent all-European media policies.
